TheForum.tv

Well, a lot is still going on with the site, but like all good things it takes time. One of the features I want most for the site is to integrate message boards into shows and episodes, etc. Really build a community out of the television we are all watching and reviewing. I decided for now I'd take the old fashioned approach and setup a show specific forum. So that's what TheForum.tv is. Come check it out.

The Next Version

Just wanted to keep everyone updated on the next version of the site. I'm working with a friend of mine who's a genius developer and that means the next version will be nothing short of spectacular. I've stopped actively advertising the site as what we have now pretty much serves as a beta and the next version will have a lot more to sell to the average TV watcher. Just thought I'd keep you updated, you probably won't hear to much new news for the next couple months while we work on this, but I'll keep you informed when the time comes. For now the site should still carry on with its intended purpose, so keep adding data and watching shows.

10,000 Watched Episodes and The Future

We just hit another milestone at 10,000 episodes watched. I imagine this number will grow the largest as the site continues to grow.

As far as the redesign of the site goes I can tell you that a lot of work has been done so far. It's taking a lot more time then I thought, but that's because everytime I get to a new piece of the site I'm analyzing the best way to build it out so that in the future when we want to add new features we'll have all the data we need. I want to get all of the data entry and editing working in a WIKI like manner so that anyone can update with new info, but we have security against hackers and spammers. Anyway, it's going well, and all the data that's added today will be transfered flawlessly into the new system.

10,000 Episodes

We just reached 10,000 episodes in the database. Quite a milestone for this little site.

But don't expect a slow down. I expect the site to grow much more rapidly once I get the next version up which will allow people to browse the data without registering or logging in.

Thanks and congrats to all who've added data so far.

The Happenings

I thought I'd brief everyone a little on the goings on behind the scenes. I'm well on my way to finishing the new template for the site (it's very similar, but allows for some new types of layout) and I've got all the new pages and business logic worked out, it's now a matter of some implementation and a then little data transfer work and the new version should be up and running.

What will actual change?
Basically you're just going to see a little update to the design. You'll now be logged in on your machine until you click logout (via an encoded cookie) and you'll finally be able to update your user information and contact info. Oh, and a spiffy new calendar that lets you see when new episodes of your shows (or all the shows) are going to air.
